Responsibilities and Services:

This office is the service provider for the Minnesota Family Investment Program, Diversionary Work Program, and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.

Programs:

These programs are designed to serve residents of Watonwan County who receive public assistance:

  • The Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP)
    • This is for families receiving cash and food assistance.  MFIP requires that most people receiving assistance find employment.  The program assists recipients in becoming self-sufficient by providing case management services and job seeking skills.  MFIP can provide daycare and transportation assistance for recipients who are doing job search and / or have found employment.
  • The Diversionary Work Program (DWP)
    • This is a 4-month program that provides case management services and supports to eligible families to help them move immediately to work.
  • The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
    • This is for people receiving food assistance only.  Services offered are case management, job seeking skills, and possibly some transportation support.  **(USDA Nondiscrimination Statement)
